Intangible heritage

The Soča valley was the first in Slovenia to be awarded the title of European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) for its success in preserving intangible cultural heritage.

The rich and varied intangible cultural heritage of the Bovec area is reflected in knowledge, skills, know-how, social relationships and various fields of spiritual creativity.

Things to experience:

  • see a 1313 performance in the Kluže fort;
  • visit the souvenir shop Od ovce do izdelka (From Sheep to Product);
  • sample the delicious krafi (dough pockets) in one of the Bovec restaurants and taverns;
  • visit the Trenta Fair;
  • enjoy refreshments of whey and Bovec cheese on the Mangart plain.

In addition to the Soča Stories project that brought the Soča valley the title of European Destination of Excellence (EDEN), the Bovec destination is also involved in Cultural Capital Counts (CCC), a project within the Central Europe programme.
