Soča river
The upper Soča and the Koritnica are cold and fast - flowing alpine torrents with a substantial descent; traversing some sections is extremely difficult and can pose a severe danger to the inexperienced. Therefore, it is recommended and advised:
- To seriously consider your own safety and the safety of others.
- Do not underestimate the power of the river and do not overestimate your own abilities.
- Do not engage in any water activities without the appropriate equipment.
- Thoroughly check the safety and adequacy of your vessel.
- Do not engage in any water acyivities unless you are familiar with the river and totally aware of all the danger it may present.
- You must be fully acquainted with all difficult and perilous stretches of the river, as well as those sections where sporting activities are prohibited.
- It is strongly recommended that visitors are accompanied by experienced and qualified local guides.
Water activities on the Soča river and the Koritnica stream are only permitted between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from 15th March to 31st October.
- All such activities are undertaken at one’s own risk.
- Access to the river is only allowed at specially marked places.
- To use the above mentioned places to enter or exit the river it is necessary to have a permit.
- Camping is only permitted in the designated campsites.
- Any breach of regulations is liable to a fine in accordance with the Municipal Order.
